That isn't news! I ALWAYS ask good designers, while paroozing their boutique, why they don't carry plus sizes.And they ALWAYS say the same thing. "It's not our demographic" To which I ALWAYS reply "Well duh. you only make size 0-6. How can I be your demographic if you purposefully exclude me?" This isn't a catch 22, people. If you make it they will come. But you can't force someone to represent you. Artists make art inspired by their muses and I guess I can't be everybody's inspiration. Sometimes it's not about being attacked as a group, usually it's just about being ignored. Not being considered. Not being a muse for anyone truly talented. I called American Apparel several times over the years. And asked the same question. The best answer I ever got was "if you think it will sell, then buy 5000 units, we'll make any size for 5000 units or more, and you can sell them yourself."
